The allure of power, prestige and riches

What makes vampires these days so scary, so popular, and so stylish?

The answer lie within the title. We must go back to the original Dracula and Vampire myths- indeed a look into Faust would help as well. All men three things want- power, wealth, and health. Vampires are immortal, health, check. Vampires, through methods unknown, are always very wealthy, check. And power? Vampires have mental, physical and political power in the bucket. Check.

And here we get the catch- in order to become a vampire, you must surrender your soul to the Devil himself, Satan. Not only does this make you undeniably evil, but your soul is eternally damned. What we face is something monstrous, and an affront to God- a soulless being.

Here we have the allure- what would you do for health, wealth and power (Shame that doesn’t rhyme.) Would you give up your immortal soul? Most of us would certainly do so wouldn’t think of it- and so, we see these as base beings, the lowest of all- those who gave in. Well, the proper vampires, anyway. Modern Vampires are a bit different- but I’ll save them for later.

This is, again, a brief post. But, the value is here- what is the true value of power and immortality- is it worth your soul? Not being able to go outside? Having to rely on Human Blood for survival? How far would we go?

Daub your doors and windows with garlic, wear a cruxifix. Keep your eyes open. They’re more cunning then we think.
